Covid Policy Updates: August 10

Updated COVID 19 POLICIES

Hello Questers!! We’re back!

After lots of preparation, we’re finally ready to welcome groups back into our escape rooms!

We’ve made a LOT of changes to make our adventures safe for our guests and our staff.

Here are some of the big ones:

-You pay for your booking online or by phone, as you make it.

-You still need to wear a mask while in the lobby, common, and wait areas of our facility. Masks can be removed while playing your room.

-Our new schedule allows us 40 minutes to clean our rooms between sessions.

-Lockers are not available during Alert Level 2, so limit personal belongings that you bring. You can take your phone into the room with you.

A detailed description of our policies is pinned on our Facebook page.

Below is a detailed list of our Covid-19 policy changes.

Bookings and Schedules

The max capacity for any of our rooms is 8 players.

We are changing our booking schedule to having 3 bookings an hour instead of 4.

This reduces the amount of total active games an hour, and reduces potential congestion of people in the building.

This will also result in a 40 minute window between a group finishing a room and the next group starting that same room. This will allow more time for cleaning and resetting the room for the next group.

Combined bookings, where multiple rooms are launched at the same time to accommodate larger groups, parties, etc, will not be possible during Alert Level 2.

We will not be offering birthday parties, and our party room rental is not available.

Bookings will be by appointment only- passerby customers will have to call or visit our website to make a booking and enter the building.

Due to Covid-19 measures customers must now pay in full online as it will reduce our lobby congestion and allow us to get you to your room as soon as possible. If you cancel within 8 hours (via email, phone, message, FB message) of your booking the cancellation fee will be $28.75 and under 4 hours the fee will be $57.50.

Sanitation and PPE

All staff will be required to wear face masks when engaging customers. They will also keep 2 metres distance when possible.

Because we cannot guarantee 2 meters distance at all times in our faculty, all patrons will REQUIRE A MASK.  Masks can be removed while playing the escape room when playing with your close contacts, but are required for all other areas in the facility.

All locks, props, and surfaces are sanitized with an electrostatic sprayer filled with a sanitizing solution or wiped down with a lysol wipe after every game.

All cleaning products we have in store have been verified to be effective agents against the virus based on provincial government recommendations.

We have 10 hand sanitizer stations (60% alcohol) throughout the facility.

Congestion and Traffic Flow

Guests will be escorted by staff for their entire experience. Staff escort groups from the lobby to designated wait areas, from the wait areas to the escape room, and from the room to the exit after the game.

No more than one group will be in a lobby or wait area at one time.

Guests may leave the game unescorted to use the washroom, but MUST put their mask on before leaving the room.

Lockers are not available to guests during Alert Level 2.

Guests must remain in their rooms after the game is over. A Quest Guide will collect your group and escort you out of the building.

Photos will not be available during Alert Level 2.

Thanks,

Escape Quest Team

New Offsite Escape Room in Placentia!

Hello Questers!

We’re launching an new offsite initiative in Placentia, NL!  Presenting Placentia Plunder at St. Luke’s in collaboration with the Placentia Area Historical Society. Placentia Plunder is an Escape room for 4-8 players and will run from July 9 to September 19.  Games will run on weekdays (closed Wednesdays) from 4:30-9:30 and weekends from 11:30-11 through July and then in August and September weekdays (closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays) will be 12:30-10 and 12:30-11 on weekends.  The cost will be $30 per person and will require a minimum booking of 4 players.  Games can be booked at Escapequest.ca/rooms/placentia-plunder

Placentia Plunder

500 years ago, the waters of Placentia Bay were fished by the Basque people. Among them were Domingo and Itziar Ibarra, who earned  a small fortune harvesting fish and whale oil from the waters of the North Atlantic before settling on the shores of Placentia permanently.

As the peoples of the area transitioned from Basque to French to English, the Imbarra family fortune swelled in size. Passed down along the female line, it was doubled by the pirate Cici Lapointe, and thereafter became known as the Placentia Plunder.  And you could inherit it all.

You have just received an invitation to Placentia from Lark Nelson, the last direct descendent of the Ibarra family line. With no heir, he has invited distant relatives, including you, to earn the right to inherit his vast fortune.  You have one hour to explore St Luke’s church and ring the bell in the bell tower to prove yourself worthy of the Placentia Plunder.

St Luke’s is located on Banker’s Road in Placentia, NL.

Steps We are Taking to Address COVID-19

To our Escape Quest Community, As we continue to monitor closely the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and as the health and safety of our staff, guests and community is paramount, we want to share the steps Escape Quest is taking to keep our adventures clean and safe for everyone. Know we are committed to an environment that promotes and protects the well being of our entire community.

Our steps include:

• Regularly disinfecting all high-touch areas, including counters, surfaces, lockers, props and installations, with disinfecting cleaner.

• Cleaning our reception area and rooms multiple times per day.

• Making available to guests medical grade gloves and sanitizing wipes for personal use.

• Converting our party room area to an alternative waiting space to decrease lobby congestion.

• Staggering bookings to decrease guest congestion.

• Removing reception area photo signs, comics and magazines.

• Increasing weekly deep cleanings of our facility.

• Ensuring our team and employees have the accurate information they need to stay healthy. This includes the most up to date information from the Public Health Agency of Canada.

• Asking staff to stay at home if they are feeling sick. We offer sick pay for all full-time and hourly employees, and any employee who is asked to self-quarantine or is quarantined will continue to be paid.

• Asking guests to postpone and/or cancel your booking if you are feeling sick.

• Continuing with private bookings for our guests- meaning you will only be playing with the members of your party.

• As a precautionary measure, and for the welfare and safety of our staff and guests, we are suspending any new party room and large scale bookings.

Finally, as the situation changes and evolves, we are prepared to address risks and concerns with everyone’s safety in mind. While our store currently remains open for business, we recognize this may change. Thank you for your ongoing support and for doing your part to keep our community safe.

Sincerely,

The Escape Quest Team

As for everyone else we know you’ve been cooped up inside and would love a reason to get out and see your there friends and loved ones so we’d like to offer 15% off of regular admission from January 25th to February 2nd!**

Did you miss out on your chance to take us up on our birthday special?  If your birthday fell between January 16th and January 24th we’ll give you an extra week to get your free admission (Till February 2nd).

We’d love to see you and swap snowstorm tales but why stop with us?  Why not pair your Escape Room adventure with a meal at a local restaurant, coffee at a cafe, a pint with friends, or maybe shop at one of the various excellent and unique stores in the downtown area?  It’s been a rough week for small local business and your support means everything.  After a week of being cooped up you deserve a bit of fun.
