Local escape room business organizes a ‘Game it Forward’ day in support of displaced families of Fort Mcmurray.

EQ Pay it Forward Red Cross 2016

May 11th, 2016

For Immediate Release

(St. John’s, NL) Escape Quest, a local business specializing in one-of-a kind escape room adventures, is organizing a full-day fundraiser in support of Red Cross relief efforts to Fort McMurray. On Sunday, May 15th at 156 Duckworth Street, Escape Quest will be collecting public donations and will be personally donating 100% of the day’s room sales to the Red Cross. “In times of widespread loss, it’s important to create positive, fun and hopeful spaces that foster acts of kindness and goodwill”, explains Escape Quest co-owner Kevin Noseworthy. “Our passion is gaming, and this is our small way to offset the hardship and grief felt by so many of our friends, families and neighbours.”

Throughout the entire day, Escape Quest is encouraging the public to ‘Game it Foward’ by booking any of their four escape room adventures. “Whether you are our biggest fan or have never heard of us until now, we want folks to come out and play, have tons of fun, and support a really great cause” says co-owner, Mark Denine. Less than a year old, owners of the young business hope to break record sales with the goal of selling all available rooms. “We are hoping for a big day and are excited to donate every bit of it to the Red Cross” says Denine. Escape Quest chose the Red Cross as the Federal Government has committed to matching all donations to their Fort McMurray relief initiative.

To learn more about Escape Quest or to participate in ‘Game it Forward’ book your escape adventure for Sunday, March 15th online  atwww.escapequest.ca or by calling 221-EPIC.

Our First Room – 1892

Our First Room Reveal, Questers!

1892- The Great Fire

On July 8th, 1892, the city of St. John’s was transformed forever. A carelessly tossed lit pipe on that dry, summer afternoon ignited the greatest catastrophe our capital has ever seen. Overnight, two thirds of the city was reduced to ashes and smoke. Despite the destruction, all accounts note that few souls were lost in the inferno. Of course, there remains no record of the handful of people held in the Courthouse lockup…

Escape the Flames

Looting erupted on Duckworth and Water Street as the fire began to approach, and you and a handful of others were quickly apprehended by authorities and thrown in the holding cells of the Court and Market House. The smell of smoke, and the roar of the blaze soon filled your guard with fear, and he has abandoned his post to find safety. If only he had let you out first. Now it is up to you and your fellow inmates to devise an escape from this peculiar prison before the fire is upon you. Will you survive?
